Toy Show Time Machine

Way back in the 1990's, I used to set up at toy shows with my buddy Steve. Back before ebay this was one of the main ways of selling stuff and we did shows in Dallas, Atlantic City, Chicago, San Jose and San Diego. It was great fun, we ate a lot of crappy food and found some incredible stuff. So step into the time machine and head back......

Oh man - that really takes me back! I remember doing shows with Leon Janzen - I really miss those days...

Remember the infamous Duane Dimock? Whatever happened to him?

Hey Tanga- Duane is still buying and selling stuff. He was set up at the San Diego Comic Con and my brother sees him all the time at the local San Diego Swap Meets.

Is that an Incredible Hulk #181 in your collection? (Shown in the 1st picture) Do you still have that and what condition is it in?

That stuff is great! I'd love to see all that together somewhere. I only happen upon the occasional item here and there. Do you still have some of this older collection? We need you do open a museum! So much cool stuff, I gotta see it!

Most of the stuff in these photos was sold long ago including that Hulk 181.

Someday a museum would be cool.

Yes, I miss the days of toy shows and toy shop magazine. As in your collections, it looks like you kept some high quality and rare items stocked in your booths. Love that Superman Pep sign and the Funny Face banner!

I would like to see a Krazy Kids Food museum! There's going to be a advertising character museum in Kansas City. It should open sometime next year.

Those toy shows were a blast from the past. Were you at the show at the Bayside Expo in Boston when they had the Lost In Space Reunion?

Dan Goodsell said...

no. I never did any Boston shows

Oh wow, those photos are great.
I miss toy shows too.
I spy an odd ogg under the table. Seems like there was always great stuff under tables.

That Frankenstein head Halloween bucket is fantastic!

I would have loved to have visited your booth back in the day. Though it would have been bittersweet because I would have wanted way more than I could have afforded.

Wow, seeing these booths brings back alot of old memories! I used to set-up at flea mkts & toy shows for about 18 years! Evil eBay has really had a very bad negative effect on these kind of shows today, sad.
