Good & Plenty Goodies

Good & Plenty are one of my favorite candies and Choo Choo Charlie is one of the coolest ad characters. So I have always been on the look out for stuff related to it. I have dug up ads, boxes, premiums and they even put out a Choo Choo Charlie comic (which oddly has no mention of the candy). Good & Plenty was such a popular candy that the Just Born company tried their own verson called Jack & Jill. And you can't go wrong with the black, white and pink color scheme.

The Daily Grind

I have been friends with Mike Payne since I was in High School. We ended up going to the same college and both were part of the radio station there. And we both do comics. Mike got involved in a comics challenge called the Daily Grind, where ever cartoonist would post a new comic, 5 days a week. If you missed a day, you were eliminated. Well it has been going for about 2 years and Mike is still going strong.

His comic is somewhat prosaically called The Daily Grind and follows the adventures of a group of anthopomorphic characters that run a general assistance service, which means they get into other peoples trouble. It is quite a lot of fun and I love to getting up each morning just to read it. The only problem is there are no strips on the weekend......

Rocket Belt Men

A trip to the 1964 Los Angeles Sportman's Show and you might have been lucky to see the Rocket Belt Men. These guys toured the country doing shows and flying through the air for 90 seconds on a tank of hydrogen peroxide. At some point they promotoed Keds shoes and even did some flights over Disneyland.
