In the 1950's promotion happened in grocery stores. Kids and parents were made aware of shows and movies by big instore pushes and this Welch's Mickey Mouse Club one was cool. A giant cardboard clubhouse on top of a giant stack of grape juice bottles. Also posters, cards, streamers, etc. It was a golden age of printed advertising materials.
