Monsanto House of the Future

As I collector I spend most of my time delving into the past. The Monsanto House of the Future was meant to give Disneyland visitors a peek into the future. I think by revisiting this future of the past, a kind of completion can be reached. Or maybe they are just cool photos to look at. The first two photos are from 1958, the third is from 1960 and the final two from 1967

Oooooo - great pictures! I've never seen those chairs before. And those planters in the background of the same photo look like they came from P.O.P.! Excellent.

Check out Chris Smith's documentary, "Home Movie" if you haven't already. Someone in it built their own house of the future. The Disney promotional video for the Monsanto House of the Future is also included in the special features.

The 1967 photos are great especially the one where the People mover can be seen exiting the Circle Vision theater. The house did not survive too much longer after these pictures were taken.

I have searched all over the internet and have found some fascinating articles about Monsanto's House of the Future. I never was able to see in it person, regretfully, but I have seen clips in documentary programs.

I would love to have a house like Monsanto's House of the Future. I cannot believe that in today's market there is not a demand for such a sturdy and lovely home.

I cannot understand what the drawbacks would be. It would be utter pleasure to find Monsanto building that home again. Would that it were so....
