I have just started a new series of paintings in which Mr Toast and friends take on litter in all its insidious forms. This first one is aptly titled "POW!". More exciting battles to come.

Banana Splits Mug concept art

A little more concept art. This time for the Fleegle Banana Splits mug which they made and the Bingo mug which was not made. Also the box backs for the Banana Splits, Tony the Tiger, Woody Woodpecker & Huck and Yogi sets. Kellogg's also did a Dennis the Menace set but I can't seem to find that one in my stuff.

Fly Trouble

It is summertime again and the flies are rampant. Shaky Bacon can't seem to shake them. Presented here are a few steps you can take to lessen the infestation.

Amusing Mascots

Todays photos are again from a big group of photos I talked about yesturday. The first one is of a Seal character from Seaworld in San Diego. I remember the Dancing Waters and the pearl diving but I dont remember this character.

The second photo is of a Woody Woodpecker statue that used to greet visitors out in front of Universal Studios in the late 1960's. Alas he is long gone.

F&F and Huck & Yogi

The F&F Company in Dayton, Ohio produced many of the 1950's, 1960's & 1970's signature premium plastic premiums. In about 1960, they produced the Yogi Bear mug and Huck Hound bowl. This is still a pretty common premium so you can only imagine how many were produced. To follow up on this success, F&F produced concept artwork for a set of Huck & Yogi salt and pepper shakers and a Running Yogi bike toy. Neither was produced but interesting to think about all of the premiums that might have been considered and then decided against.

Mr. Toast at Galleycat

Ron Hogan at Galleycat wrote a nice article about webcomics at Comic Con 2006 and I was included. Maybe someday I will learn to smile when someone is taking my picture.

Fairytale Town

A couple years ago I bought a huge collection of slides and negatives. Most were of Disneyland but also in there were some Santa's Village pics and these two Fairytale Town images. One of the cool things about this collection is that the guy had his daughter in a lot of the shots. You can actually see her growing up in the photos. Kind of strange.
