The b&w one reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode called "The After Hours" where each department store mannequin is allowed to be "real" for a month. Marsha (the mannequin) forgets she is supposed to return to her natural state, and thus ensues the odd drama of the TW.
Dan - This is classic 60's discount store stuff at its best! I love the GE electric clock display near the service counter. You never see electric clocks for sale any more. (I guess people hate cords!) At least a few of the photos are from J.M Fields stores.
Regarding the last photo, the "Sons of Katie Elder" movie contest, it's interesting that the poster pictures Dean Martin instead of John Wayne, the main star of the film. Dean's career was white hot at the time, though.

I meant TZ...not TW!
Awesome stuff Dan! I hate to say it, but I vaguely remember stores looking like this when I was a kid.
Getting old! ;-)
I remember a store called Woolco and not so long ago store called BigV having that kind of lighting. Yikes.

yeah I think they are all Fields except the last which is White Front.
I remember shopping at White Front - it was an odd mix of discount Dept store fare.
