Wood-imals

The Wood-imals lived on Jungle Island across the street from Knott's Berry Farm. They were great folk art animals carved from wood and varnished by Forrest Morrow.

He also made smaller ones like I have above and sold the big ones with the following flyer. They are so simple and yet so engaging.

What year was this? Judging by the Elgin, IL phone prefix (letters not numbers) it';s got to be older than the 1970's. We've been using numbers since the late 70's.

So... those were some high-end items! $200 for a dinosaur back then -- WOW.

yeah the big one was probably 7-8' tall but still pricey. I figure it is from the 1960's

Wonderful! Like you said, "so simple", but full of fun and creativity.

Oh those are sooooo cool.
Humm I wonder what I could do with the twisty, spiral and curly branches that come from my ornamental hazel nut tree?
;)
