Glendale Toy & Advertising Show

This last Sunday I was able to make it out to the All American Collectors Show in Glendale. Years ago I used to set up at the show but this year I just swung by to take some pics and maybe spend a little money.

This show is one of the few places you can go to find great vintage advertising. One of the things that caught my eye was a vintage Oscar Meyer Weinermobile in its box. I have one but this was only the second I had seen in many years. Quite a prize.

I ended up buying a little stack of old Hanna Barbera drawings and a couple old coupons. But it was a fun day talking with Randy of Tiki Ranch and Jim & Linda of Atomic Age toys.

Mr Toast Reviewed

In the November 2006 issue of the Comic Buyer's Guide there is a review of Mr Toast at the CIrcus by Tony DiGerolamo. Tony also did a write of of the NYCC in the Knights of the Dinner Table Magazine #116 and was nice enough to mention Mr Toast!

Also a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that came down to Hi De Ho comics on Saturday. Everyone was cool and it was great to hang out with Steve Weissman, Jordan Crane, Johnny Ryan, Sam Henderson and Robert Goodin. These guys really work hard at their craft and it shows in everything they do. The event was well run and Sina and the rest of the staff at Hi De Ho Comics work hard to support the independant sprit.

Title the Painting Contest

Well it has been a while since I ran a contest so I figured it was time. I just finished this painting of Clem Lemon and was planning on calling it "Who Knows?". It seemed like an OK title but I am guessing someone out there in there in internetland can come up with something better. It can be any word or phrase (keep it clean).

I remember these well. The pieces of gum were all lumpy and always looked like they were going to be amazing but turned out to be hollow little duds. Oh well.

This Saturday at Hi De Ho Comics in Santa Monica, they are having an Independent Comics Day with Jordan Crane, Johnny Ryan & S. Weissman. These guys were cool enough to ask some of us other small press guys to come over and sell our own stuff.

So I will be there with Mr Toast comics, books & dolls from 3- 6 PM, this Saturday August 19th. Signing and doing sketches. Also free posters as long as they last!
