The flea market yields many amazing things. This weekend I found a book store display statue of J. Otto Seibold's character Olive. It stands 20" tall is is dated 1999. The funny thing about finding it was that about 2 years ago I found the statue of Olive's co-star Martini at the same flea market. So now I have the pair! They are too cool and finding peripheral stuff related to the amazing work of J. Otto is a hard thing to do.
I think that those are Nordstrom's Christmas displays. I think it was Nordstrom's anyway. The store was full of Jotto stuff at the time. There were other figures too. What a score!
ReplyDeleteAh - thats makes sense - they seemed like they would have been expensive to make - ah more to find - a collectors job is never over....
ReplyDeleteWow -- double score!
ReplyDeleteYep, Nodstrom display made by Creative Arts in 2000.

How much does something like that set you back?
ReplyDeleteI paid 35 for Martini and 80 for Olive and was very happy to pay that price
ReplyDeleteI recall seeing those in old Nordies too. We're fans of that X-mas special with Drew Berrymore's voice acting. Olive the other Reindeer...
ReplyDelete(In fact every time I drive by any street named Olive, I'll break out singing the song. Ha!)
What incredible finds. Nothing like that at the flea markets in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few of the same figures if anyone is interested.

ReplyDeleteI have acquired a ~21" tall Olive on ice skates - clearly an old Nordstrom display item. Can't post a picture using the comment form. Before I put her on eBay, want her? I'd rather sell her directly to a known collector than give eBay fees X 3!!
Yes, do you still have?
DeleteI'm sorry, no. I sold this on eBay quite a long time ago now.
ReplyDeleteI have olive, candy cane, and snowman available if interested…
ReplyDeleteDo u still
